How to add a watermark

  1. Add the image to protect

Drop the photo or visual you want to mark.

  2. Add your logo

A PNG, SVG or WebP file with a transparent background gives the best result.

  3. Place, adjust, download

Nine positions on a grid, a size expressed as a percentage of the image width, an opacity and a margin. Apply, check the result, adjust if needed, then export as JPEG or PNG.

When to use it

Signing photos before publishing them

Photographers, craftspeople, estate agents: a discreet logo in a corner says where the image comes from when it gets reused elsewhere.

Sending a proof to a client

A large, centered, half-transparent logo makes the image unusable until the final version is delivered.

Branding product visuals

The same logo, in the same place and at the same relative size, whatever the photo's dimensions.

Good to know

  • The logo size is proportional to the image width: the result looks the same from one photo to the next, whatever their dimensions.
  • A watermark in a corner is removed by simply cropping. For real protection, place it in the center, over the subject.
  • Between 30 and 50% opacity, the logo stays readable without hiding the image.
  • The tool stamps a logo, not text. For a text signature, prepare it as a transparent PNG image.
  • No transparent background on your logo? Remove it first with the background removal tool.
  • Everything is computed in your browser: neither the photo nor the logo is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Which logo format should I use?

A PNG or SVG with a transparent background. A JPG logo will show up with its background rectangle, which is rarely what you want.

Does the watermark degrade my photo?

The image keeps its original dimensions. PNG export is lossless; JPEG export re-encodes the photo at high quality for a lighter file.

Can I process several photos at once?

Not yet: the tool handles one image at a time. Your settings stay in place when you switch photos, which speeds up a series.

Does a watermark really protect my images?

It discourages reuse and names the author, but it does not replace copyright, which exists without any formality. Consider also filling in your name in the metadata, which you can check with the metadata viewer.
